Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Focus Matrix is a browser extension that turns your new tab into an Eisenhower
Matrix with a built-in Pomodoro timer. This policy explains what data the
extension handles and how.
The short version
- By default, all your data stays on your own device.
- Cross-device sync is optional and off until you turn it on.
- We never sell your data, show ads, or track your browsing.
- Your tasks are private — they are stored under an anonymous account ID and no other user can read them.
Data stored on your device
The extension stores your tasks, projects, settings, and productivity history
locally in your browser's storage. This never leaves your device unless you
choose to enable sync.
Optional cross-device sync
If you turn on Sync across devices in Settings, the extension signs you
in with your Google account and stores a copy of your tasks, projects, and
settings in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore), so they stay in sync across the
browsers where you are signed in.
-
What we store: your tasks, projects, and app settings, saved
under your private account identifier. Your productivity history (statistics)
is not uploaded — it stays on your device.
-
Sign-in: we use your Google account only to identify which
data belongs to you across your devices. Your email address is used solely as
this identifier and is never attached to your task content.
-
Access: security rules ensure that only your own signed-in
account can read or write your data. No other user can access it.
-
Where: data is held on Google Firebase infrastructure, which
is GDPR-compliant.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We do not use advertising or third-party trackers.
- We do not monitor the websites you visit or your browsing activity.
Deleting your data
You are in control of your data at any time:
-
Cloud data: open Settings → Sync across devices →
Delete cloud data & account. This permanently removes your synced
data and your account from the cloud.
-
Local data: use Settings → Data to export, clear completed
tasks, or clear your statistics. Uninstalling the extension also removes all
local data.
Children's privacy
Focus Matrix is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed at
children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material
changes will be reflected in the extension's listing.
